Cass Area Artists is offering youth art scholarships again in 2024, as we have done for the past five years.
Applications and information for 2024 scholarships are available now on our "Forms" page.

If your child is a member of a Cass County 4-H® club, we are awaiting a new Cass County 4-H® program coordinator so we can resume art classes for 4-H® kids. Winter classes took place on Saturdays in January and February at the Cass District Library in Cassopolis, Michigan. Classes are free, and participants can either bring their own art materials or use materials available at the class. These classes focused on developing skills in portrait drawing. These skills will give kids the practice they can use to create their own projects to exhibit at the Cass County Fair.
For our spring classes we partnered with Bianca May, who heads Our Father's Family Keeper Ministries in Vandalia, Michigan, to introduce 4-H members to art projects they could create themselves to present at the Cass County Fair. They used various painting tools to create abstract paintings in acrylics, and learned about colors and composition. They also learned how to sign their work, and how to install wall hangers on the reverse side. Finally, they got to have one-on-one opportunities to practice presenting their work to the fair judges and answering questions about how they completed their paintings. We're waiting to see who wins some awards at the July-August County Fair!
